Country music is an amalgam of popular musical forms that has its roots in traditional folk music from the South. Country music is a catc venue for the Nashville sound, bluegrass, western ballads, swing, Cajun, honky tonk, Appalachian, rockabilly and jug band music.

Although there are numerous styles of country music, it is unique in the way its style is executed. Many songs are recorded to fit the style of country music and those who sing it. Famous country music singers include Bob Wills, Willie Nelson and George Strait. Country music fans are mesmerized by the rhythms and the structures of the chords. In fact there are many songs that are adapted to suit the country music style like the Milk Cow Blues tune – an early blues tune composed by Kokomo Arnold. Famous singers like Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, and George Strait have all sung their own versions of the Milk Cow Blues Tune.

It was in 1924, when Vernon Dalhart recorded “The Wreck of Old 97,” that Country music really took off. At that time other singers like Riley Pucket, Fiddling John Carson and Charlie Poole joined the country western scene, further popularizing the music. The popularity of country music continues to grow.

Country music has its share of male and female singers who, through the years, have contributed greatly to the long-standing popularity of this music. They include well-known artists like, Johnny Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Patty Loveless, Barbara Mandrell, Lonestar, Shania Twain, Dwight Yoakam and a lot of others.

Country music made its mark in the early twentieth century. It was initially popular amongst the individuals in rural areas of the west and the south. This genre of music has developed from ballads and famous folk tunes. From the days of Hillbilly music, country music is now simply referred to as country, western or country and western. Classic country music is an assortment of tunes from diverse cultures and music patterns.

Each style is disparate and unique in style. The use of rhythms, chord structures and musical intonations vary. Though modern country music could use contemporary beats, they are adaptations of classic versions. Classic country music has an individualistic character that was developed to suit the performer’s voice modulation capacity and style. These classics are unique and offer inimitable singing styles. This includes the styles of music legends Jimmy Rodgers and Hank Williams.

Vernon Dalhart was one of the 1st renowned country singers to render an all time hit. Other meaningful country music performers were Riley Puckett, Don Richardson and Fiddling John Carson. Ernest Stoneman, Charlie Poole, the North Carolina Ramblers and The Skillet Lickers were others who made their presence felt in the field of country classic music in its early days.

Classic country music has a universal charm and is renowned for its easy to understand rhythmic tunes and serious lyrics. A number of classic country tunes are recitals of western legends, heroes and get togethers. This serious music continues to be a popular choice of music even today. The classic country music business is a rewarding and profitable business that continues to reap rewards for their age-old copyrights. Millions of dollars are being realized and paid out as royalties even today. Listeners are still able to feel its rustic charm and intention. The fan following for classic country music is immense and continues to grow.

Have you ever pondered music? I don’t mean thinking about the notes or the beat or the even the instrumentation. I mean have you pondered it?

To ponder: to weigh carefully in the mind; consider thoughtfully: He pondered his next words thoroughly.

Think about what music is. It’s intangible. It’s really indefinable. It has no shape, yet it shapes thoughts. It has no function of its own, yet somehow helps us function

Music has the power to stir feelings…

…And of its own accord cannot fulfill any of them. It isn’t necessary to perform our daily duties, but how many places of business do you find with no music. I certainly don’t remember many. Music cannot comb your hair, brush your teeth, or tie your shoes, but it may ease you through those mundane tasks and make you forget about the time.

You don’t need words to find pleasure in music. You don’t need status. You don’t even need people around. It is not poured from a bottle, shaken from a cannister, or even dolloped from a 5 gallon bucket. Still; it can be as refreshing as champagne, spicy as cayenne, and rich and decadent as gold ring homemade vanilla ice cream. (you Texans will really know what I mean by that final reference)

Music appeals to fewer than our five senses, but it additionally appeals to more than our senses. When you study musical structure, it makes perfect logical sense. But when you try to explain why it “moved” you, remarkably ofttimes you can’t quite convey it satisfactorily.

It was not because it smelled, tasted, felt, sounded, or looked so nice. It has been what it did to your cerebral cortex. Or might be it hit you in the “gut”, but it didn’t actually hit you, and it was not actually your “gut”. See what I mean? You cannot put your finger on it. In fact you cannot touch it at all. You just know. You know?

Why in the world am I going on and on about music? Thanks for asking.

Music is a form of creative copy, too. It is an al the majority optimum way to ingrain an idea into the minds of your target market. Because without exception there has always been this common chord. ( prefer my musical metaphor?) people love music! No surprise… It is extremely versatile, dependable, believable, and yet inexplicable.

I’m additionally a songwriter. I take the same octave countless other artists use and create my little piece of semi-immortality to satisfy…what? Me? an fans? A paycheck? All of the above? None of the above? The answer is yes to all the questions. I’ve written tunes for each of those purposes. And each one has been satisfying in its own way because each one involved the intangible little friend of mine. Music. I’m not sure why I’m so moved by this unseen companion, but I do know this:

Music is a gift from God. It, and your thoughts, can never be stolen from you, forced out of you, or driven away from you…as long as you want it; you have got it. How incredible is such a gift. Yeah, all of us can live without music, but

It would not be nearly as joyous an existence.

To your musical satisfaction…

In light of the digital music revolution, Internet music stores are hurriedly finding themselves irrelevant. Now that customers are able to quickly purchase individual songs from I-Tunes and other sellers of digital downloads, customers need a really wonderful reason to purchase an entire compact disc. After all, if you only like one song, why pay for everything else? The following article will suggest some creative examples that Internet music stores could use to ramp up their sales.

1. offer Sample Music Clips: This seems apparent, but it’s amazing how few stores actually offer this. Many people want to try it before they buy it, so offering a 30 second sample of songs will greatly increase sales.

2. Search by Song Title: many Internet music stores discover that customers ofttimes search by song title when they can’t remember the musician or album name they’re looking for. Adding a search by song feature (or better yet, search by lyrics) might dramatically increase the occasions that your customer will find what he is looking for.

3. Visitor Reviews & Ratings: A short paragraph written by a professional music reviewer is simply not enough. Customers want to know what other “normal” people contemplate the compact disc. Let them rate and write their personal reviews of a compact disc. This will empower your visitors and produce a sense of On-line community.

4. Show Them What is New: Do not make your visitors sort through tons of pages just to find a new release. Show them what’s new from the start. Many visitors do not know exactly what they’re looking for, so a suggestion would be much appreciated. For instance, C28’s Christian Music seller shows highlights of a CDs of Christian Music on their home page.

5. News Section: Keeping your customers informed about what is new and upcoming will produce a buzz around your new releases. Having a news section is a great way to get your customers excited about upcoming music. like it or not, digital music is here to stay. Internet music stores must find a way to evolve or they will immediately find themselves irrelevant. If properly implemented, the ideas above will serve as a nice starting point for starting this evolution and in the end, will hopefully increase sales.

The PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR will launch with a press conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC Wednesday, October 21 at 10:00 AM. Justin Furstenfeld, the lead singer of Blue October, will be on hand to speak and perform an acoustic set before members of Congress as well as supporters of the tour partners 1-800 SUICIDE, PostSecret and TWLOHA.

Justin–who has struggled with bi-polar disorder most of his life–will be calling on Congress to fund both creative writing and art therapy programs as alternative options for mental health. The press conference will also urge Congress to fully fund the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act which provides the funding behind the majority of the suicide prevention programs in the United States today. The press conference is open to all on a first-come first-served basis, to RSVP, email TWLOHA: PUTP@TWLOHA.com.

The PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR is created through a partnership between the non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), the largest charity on MySpace and Facebook: Postsecret.com; Synclive.com; and 1-800 SUICIDE The National Hopeline Network.

Through 1-800 SUICIDE–which provides a life-saving service that is private and confidential for people in need–callers are routed directly to the closest crisis center in their immediate area so that quick referrals to behavioral health services and other supports can be offered. Since 1998, 1-800-SUICIDE has received over 3.6 million calls and rescued more than 4,000 individuals who had already initiated suicide plans.

The spokesperson for the PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR 2009, Justin Furstenfeld personally understands the struggles those who are affected by mental health issues face on a daily basis. “It has taken 20 years to have the chance to do a tour focusing on mental health issues which have been a daily battle for me for most of my life,” explains Justin.

“It’s great to finally be a part of a positive, progressive-thinking tour for an important cause which will make a direct impact and help people in desperate situations that need it the most.” In a strange turn of events in his own life, Justin worked at a mental hospital one day and, after suffering a breakdown, became a patient in a hospital the next.

Justin–who has taken medication for the condition since he was a teenager–now teaches creative writing at a mental hospital to young adults affected by mental health issues, self-abuse issues and sexual abuse. Through personal experiences and music, Justin challenges young minds to channel their emotions and anger into creative writing and art versus taking their frustrations out on themselves or the world around them.

He performs his art around the world, sending a message of hope to thousands who know and trust his message because he fights the same battles they fight every day. Justin is living proof that if you reach out and allow yourself to be helped you can lead a beautiful life filled with love, family and career.

“In moments of bravery and confusion and honesty, people turn to 1-800-SUICIDE–over three million of them,” points out Jamie Tworkowski, founder of To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA).

“The folks at the Hopeline Centers have been answering those calls for ten years, picking up the phone when it’s mattered most. Now to help those who will not pick up the phone, together with 1-800-SUICIDE we are launching the first 24×7 online emotional support network called AliveIM!, which will soon be available at www.suicide.net.”

To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA)–a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide–exists to encourage, inform and inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

Since 2006, TWLOHA has responded to over 100,000 messages from people in over 40 different countries and have invested over half a million dollars directly into treatment and recovery, including $50,000 to help fund the AliveIM! support network.

In another innovative move, the tour has partnered with Synclive.com to air live performances from the artists via the Internet as well as provide an immediate online confidential connection for fans in need. Synclive.com will create an essential connection for concertgoers in crisis who are unable to approach a booth at the show in-person either for direct help or to volunteer for the online counseling program.

About the National Hopeline Network 1-800 SUICIDE (784-2433) and the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC):
After losing his wife, Kristin Brooks to suicide in 1998, Reese Butler founded the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC), which created the National Hopeline Network 1-800 SUICIDE.

In 2000, Reese gained the support of the late Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN), Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and obtained more than seven million dollars to expand and support the National Hopeline Network which is comprised of 200 community crisis centers in 48 states.

Callers in crisis to 1800-SUICIDE are routed to the closest crisis center in their immediate area so that quick referrals to behavioral health services and other supports can be offered. Since 1998, 1-800-SUICIDE has received more than 3 million calls and rescued more than 4,000 individuals who had already initiated suicide plans. www.hopeline.com

About To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA):

In 2006, Jamie Tworkowski wrote a story, a glimpse into a friend’s life and her first steps to recovery from drug addiction, self-injury, and depression. The story, titled To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), and t-shirts Tworkowski printed to help pay for his friend’s recovery, started a movement, not only within his local Orlando, FL community, but one that was swiftly embraced by people everywhere.

Realizing a strong need to bring these mental health issues to light, Jamie created TWLOHA–a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide–and enlisted bands such as Paramore, Thrice, Anberlin, Switchfoot, Bayside, The Almost to spread TWLOHA’s message.

Jamie and TWLOHA joined national and international touring bands spreading their message of hope before bands took the stage each night. In August 2007, MySpace awarded TWLOHA the winner of their “Impact Award” for “Community Building,” TWLOHA garnered the most votes in the history of the Impact Awards.

To Write Love on Her Arms began with one broken girl, one painful night; addiction, depression, self-injury. It is the realization of what life can be when people commit to meeting a need. “A friend of mine told me there is no such thing as suicide prevention. This is an attempt to prove him wrong, to say that love can change a life. We can hold back the darkness. Rescue is possible,” says Tworkowski. www.twloha.com

Called “the most trusted stranger in America,” Frank Warren is the sole founder and curator of the PostSecret Project: A collection of nearly 500,000 highly personal and artfully decorated postcards mailed anonymously from around the world, displaying the soulful secrets we never voice.

The PostSecret.com site now receives more than 1,000,000 visitors every week. In 2005, the All-American Rejects approached Warren about using images of actual PostSecret images in their “Dirty Little Secret” music video. They offered Warren $1,000, but Warren instead asked them to donate $2,000 to 1800-SUICIDE where Warren is a volunteer.

The donation was made and the music video became one of the most requested on MTV. The National Mental Health Association presented Warren with an award for his work in raising public awareness of Suicide. The PostSecret project has now raised over $210,000 for 1800-SUICIDE. PostSecret was awarded the December 2008 “Myspace Impact Award” and donated 100% of the proceeds to 1-800 SUICIDE.

The Internet has revolutionized the way we do business. You can start an Online business for less than $100.00 and start earning a decent amount of income off of it. Because of this, there has been an explosion in the ‘ Internet Marketing’ world. I do not contemplate myself an Internet marketer, but I’ve studied many of them and have learned some ‘out of the box’ techniques that you can efficiently apply towards bands. Here are just a few of the many suggestions I can give you:

• Give first One way to get something from other is to give to them first. In music, one way to build a fan base is to performance at Venues that do not charge a cover and invite individuals to come as your guest. You definately do not want to performance a lot of Venues for free, so you need to somehow communicate that you are doing this for your listeners in the absence of saying it outright. You may say, “Hey guys, just to show you are appreciation, Flaming Onions would like to individual ly invite you to this special concert just for you! It is totally free, so bring your companions and we’ll see you there!” They will come, because they believe that this is a gift from you and the will not want to miss out!

An additional way to give first is through our products. Giving away products has gotten a lot easier since the development of the Web. Digital music is HUGE! Better yet, it expenses nothing to duplicate.

Have you thought about giving away one or two songs from your new album? What do you think would happen if you did, and left your fan’s preferreds available only if they purchased it? first of all, they are going to love the fact that you gave them part of your album for free! It’s al most like a free trial that they get to keep. Because you were willing to do this for them, they’ll be more like ly to buy it from you. Give first, and they’ll give back to you!

• Cross-selling/Up-selling Have you ever gone to McDonalds, ordered a burger and received the question, “Would you like fries with that?” Have you ever ordered one of their value meals and received the question “Would you like to Super-Size that?” What you heard, while innocent enough, was an amazing marketing idea that has been used by Web merchants everywhere !

It is a way to increase sales to the same customer (who has bought a product) by introducing other products in your product range. If customers buy a Flaming Onions compact disc, you can ask Assuming that they want to buy a Flaming Onions t-shirt as well.

Seems simple enough, but let’s think a little more out of the box. Let’s say the Flaming Onions’ CD sells for $15 and brings in a profit of $10 per album. Let’s furthermore assume that their t-shirts sell for $10 and bring in a profit of $6 per shirt.

What If the Flaming Onions Value Pack (consisting of 1 autographed CD, 1 tee shirt, and the album emailed to them in MP3 format with bonus track for their iPod and a desktop background pic for their computer ) sells for $25? I’m willing to bet that this approach sells more. The digital products, as I mentioned above, cost virtually nothing to duplicate.

You profit would be the same, but I guarantee you would sell more!

• Email List This is could the most important tool that’s used by Web organizations. Web Marketers swear by email lists and base many, if not all, of their systems around them. The idea is simple, you provide a list for fans to keep track of your band and all they have to do is give you their Name and email address.

You now have a way to directly communicate to them, and better yet, they wanted it! You may encourage upcoming shows and album releases. You may create contests and drawings for those that are signed up. You may give those who are signed up a special discount on merchandise. The possibilities are infinite. One thing to recall is to only send them things they would want to know. They signed up to hear more about you, so they do not want to receive any forwards stating that If they sign up for this offer, they may receive a free laptop, blah, blah, blah! Do not abuse your list. Take care of them. This is an elite group of individuals who wanted to be a part of your success, so treat them that way.

Music marketing is by and large difficult for the majority artists, that’s something we need to realise. Marketing yourself, being confident to allow individuals to listen to your tracks and the majority vital ly, handling criticism takes a bit of time to get used to. In the majority of cases though, marketing plans do fail. you might have a excellent sounding track, but if it isn’t marketed properly then it will just be white noise.

Still all is not lost.

The main reasons why music marketing fails is that

1) there is always some money involved, and

2) all of us market our music.

They all sound a bit strange. That I understand, but my plan is for you to get over these hurdles and to get your music out there without any hassle. I will take each of the above points in turn, but remember they’re interlinked:

1) Money marketing. This is bad. The economics of this is so: you have to sell slot of tracks to get back the amount you spent on marketing, then you need to sell a few more to make any profit. The problems is, why are all of us invest ing so much money on music marketing, or, why are all of us invest ing any money on marketing at all?! The Internet has greatly reduce d the cost of marketing by 100 %. Yep, marketing ought to be free, then any tracks that you do sell is pure profit. There are so a lot of music marketing strategies, some of which are easy ideas that are not being utilised.

Here are some fantastic free marketing strategies are not being used, at all. How about leaflet distribution, flyers, making a mailing list then advertising your new tracks on that (they already like your tracks because they have signed upto your mailing list). Applying to competitions will always bring in some much necessitated traffic as competitions generate 1) leads and interest from the host web site, 2) your tracks will get viral marketed just if it has become in the top 3. Viral marketing is just another way of spreading interest, all the people who voted for your tracks will recommend the great track that they heard, and you name spreads. 3) You can always advertise the fact that you got in 1st, second or third in X competition (always state how a lot of other competitors were there as well- coming third out of four entries is virtually nothing to promote really).

Assuredly the very highest quality advertising strategy is…give away your MP3s for FREE! A easy technique that encourages your tracks. individuals then trust you, they love quality items, they assume then, “hmm, if this is free, and it is good, what would his selling tracks be like?” Free stuff sells pay good s, fact. Give away alot of free stuff…MP3s being the main one, and then be patient.

Once you have finished your free marketing, start again. Just keep on promoting yourself by free processes. It gets your name banded around, people will see your Webpage link and click on it growing your traffic. It might not too successful in the 1st few months or might be even a year, but stick with it, gaining visitor confidence will best ly prevail.

2) The above is great, but why’d any person buy any track from you in the 1st place? To most surfers you are faceless, they do not see you on the music videos, so why should they buy anything from you?

Harsh words I understand, I’m sorry, but it’s true. That is the real reason why there are thousands of wonderful groups and performers out there in Internet land marketing away, spend ing cash and showing virtually nothing for it. They marketed first, wanting cash, and their visitors are literally saying “I don’t think so”. You then become the banner ad- looks really wonderful, but never gets the click.

What you need to do is produce content within your website. easy as that. without content you’re just another website that the visitor has no real reason to come back to. Content furthermore boosts the opportunitys of you being select ed up by the search engines. Please note:Google, and the other large search engines have stated that their thousands of calculations per website includes content search. This is a fundamental statement, even if you’re a music website giving away your MP3s.

If you’ve ever looked for MP3s within the search engines, there are about 6 million websites dedicated to the term MP3. At this point, your one website has to be found by a visitor, the opening s are wonderfully low. Nonetheless, if your website has content focused keywords, such as ” good guitar riffs”, “how to gig” etc, then you will be choose ed up much efficiently than a easy MP3 search. Within the various pages that you’ve created you put, “download free guitar MP3s” or something that suits your music, and you then advertise your MP3s through the “back door”. Content will likewise bring back the visitors, they love a website that they’re interested in, they sign up to your news-letter, and then you email them with new updates, your new MP3s etc. Then you start to establish your own little buzz, you establish people willing to listen to your tracks.

A sideline to content is always relevant, up-to-date content. offer ing tapes with your tracks on is music marketing suicide. I’ve seen these actually being offer ed on some website s. offer ing a tape states that 1. You’re not up-to-date hence your sounds won’t be, 2. You’re offer ing poor quality, hence your tracks won’t shine, and 3. You have to pay out for the tape (postage and packaging etc). individuals on the Internet want things now, not tomorrow, offer ing MP3s, even short WAV files is giving the visitor what they want- immediate access to your tracks.

Relevant content is just as necessary as current content. If you have a rock website stick to rock related Web pages. If I has been into hip-hop I wouldn’t go onto your rock website and look at hip-hop related articles. I know that this seems obvious, but scarily this has been done. It additionally has another effect. The search engines see topic specific websites as just that, topic specific. If you stray away from your chosen topic it will not look good for you with the engines. They will see that your relevance has lower d and so to will your page ranking.

Content isn’t that simple to accomplish. It comes with time, you need to tweak, track whether that has done any nice to your traffic or click throughs. You could additionally just be writing alot of drivel. Content needs to be “Search Engine Focused”, you need to honestly drive individuals to buy from you, you need to have a one to one style ( like you are talking to a friend), and definitely not be boring. Nearly forgot, you need to assess who your fans is. Are they young, middle aged, technophobic? You writing style ought to cater for your fans. For instance, a younger fans will like more colour, more tech information, a friendly banter, and up-to-date chart acts. Generally if you write as you would talk to a friend then you’ll be on safe lines.
